Arthur Murray Mississauga Reviews
Mimi and Martin
Well, you have all seen the results of the magic that Arthur Murray® has done for Martin. This is the first time I have seen him dance and see he is really enjoying it, but he won’t admit it to me that he is now enjoying the dancing; he complains and complains. But as a matter of fact, he was the one who actually enrolled us here from all the nagging through all the years. I’ve always known I would love to dance. I couldn’t go to the gym. It’s just so boring for me and I needed to exercise so I started going out to dance to keep my waist line! And I said to Martin, “If you don’t want to come, you can stay home.” So he started looking in the yellow pages, and he was the one who found Arthur Murray. He took me here just after spring, and I said well ok, but I thought this wouldn’t last. But then here we are two and a half years later. We’re really enjoying it, and this is our second home. We love coming here and I love to dance, and I think he does love to dance too!

We’ve been here almost five years, and it came as just an accident. We were with our son, Reece, and in the building at a doctor’s appointment. We came down off the elevator and went the wrong way, walked past the door and saw these people twirling around. Steve looks in and goes, “I can do that!” So I immediately went home, phoned and made an appointment! We started to come here to do a dance for our 25th wedding anniversary, which is long gone, and we are just having so much fun. We fight all the time, but it’s wonderful! We’ve been through so many different instructors; every one of them was special. We’ve enjoyed all of them!

Ok, I’ve been here a while, probably just over four years, although most of the time I don’t think it seems that long. I always still think I’m a beginner in some ways. What made me want to learn to dance? I don’t know; it just came to me out of the blue. I never had done it, and one day I just thought that might be something that would be fun. As most things, if someone tells me to do something, I probably won’t do it; but because I wanted to do it, I went ahead and did it. I haven’t regretted it. It’s been fun, tough at times. There are times when you think you’re not getting very far or you’re never going to learn it, but then you always rise up again and hit that new plateau. The teachers are all great; it’s a lovely studio. I’ve gone to other studios – there’s been times when I’ve been invited and gone for a fun dance or something – but Arthur Murray’s is where I’ve always been, and it’s where I want to always stay.

So we’ve been doing it for I guess about two years now, and we got into it by talking about it with friends of ours who brought us in, and we thought this was something we could do together. It was relaxing, definitely was a break from the office; it allows us to be here during the daytime when we’re here for lessons to mentally unwind and not think about the things that go on in the office. So, in some ways, it’s very therapeutic. We’ve met some marvelous people. The dance instructors have been great, some have gone, some are still here. It’s just a very warm and friendly place to take dance lessons at. We’ve danced at other studios, and, definitely for us, Arthur Murray’s is where we want to be, I guess, because we’re still here!

Well, I started a year ago, a year and a month, I’ll have you know! I moved to Mississauga from the east end of Toronto in 2000. Usual life, enjoying it, and then I became a widow in April of 2004. So I was left on my own, and I had to change my lifestyle and continue on. I could not place myself in any particular position. I was watching TV one night, and Dancing with the Stars came on, and just like that I wanted to dance. The next morning I woke up, got on the telephone, phoned Arthur Murray’s, made an appointment, and here I am. I want to thank Alex and Irene; they’ve been my teachers, and I’ve loved every minute of it. I’ve loved all the people I have met. I have met more friends than I ever knew existed and I love you all dearly.
